A prayer for Palestine. With the rule of law which the UN claims to uphold, there must be a basis in law for the division of Palestine and the creation of Israel. Why wasn't an option for Jews to return and co exist as fellow citizens with Palestinians considered? Imagine how great Palestine would have been? Instead, even in 1948 Palestine was brutally divided and the state of Israel forced onto Palestine. Can the UN demonstrate a basis in law for the creation of Israel? History records that the UN created Israel. Not God. So if a thief invaded my land and I attack the thief, would the law say that the thief has a right to defend itself. The law would probably say that you cannot take the law into your own hands. The police must deal with the thief. What happens if the only recourse to Palestine is the very UN that brutalized them in the first place. Can we then stop Palestine from attacking a thief ? Probably not but the world is not asking to annihilate Israel. Its asking for leadership. The UN is best suited to look at historical and biblical considerations and it bears the responsibility for peace by ensuring that the rule of law is sacrosanct in the middle East. They should enforce peace by forcing Palestine and Israel to find a solution. I cannot conceive wishing Israel away as even a remote possibility looking at the global balance of forces. However I CAN conceive a UN becoming legitimate and a fair arbiter for a credible solution. As it stands the UN, US , Europe and other NATO partners are complicit in a genocide against Palestine. They wont concede that Israel was forcibly imposed on Palestine. They won't answer to a claim that a thief has no rights in a dispute except for rights contained in a clause that protects human rights for criminals. To declare a thief to be a victim is ludicrous. This is where complicity becomes clearly evident. More importantly the application of human rights to Israeli victims and not to the unarmed victims of Palestine, becomes a crisis of conscience or a crisis defined by unprincipled loyalty for the world at large. How can ordinary people contribute to peace. Each global citizen must punt their governments to take a principled stand, and to implement economic sanctions against Israel. We need to boycott Israeli products or multinational brands that support Israel. One would probably argue that on the one hand I am calling for peace and on the other hand I am wanting to punish one party. No, I support corrective action as opposed to punitive action, as a principle. However a boycott that hurts the bottom line of supporters of Israel will level the playing field and force both parties to negotiate as equals for a just solution for holy land. Worshippers of capital will only change if capital bleeds. No one wants the holy land to have its rivers flowing with blood. We want rivers flowing with the nectar of love at best, or of HOPE at worst.
