In this world we are chasing the shadow of our real self. This takes too much energy. Instead we have to find the real self.
A divine energy probably sustains us, whether or not we know it. Our souls are possibly a particle of this energy and when this connection is broken it is then that we die and the soul returns to its source or as some believe to another body.
The connection between the soul and the source is intricately linked to what Socrates articulated when he wrote ‘know thyself’
As I mourn a loss of a younger brother and of so many friends to a pandemic, I understand that it is normal to shed tears that fulleth a dam.
Yet if I understand my source then I will mourn with balance and dignity. If I fail to understand my royal lineage to the divine source then I will be broken and it may take months or even years to recover.
Life is full of trials and tribulations. So the phrase “Know thyself” was not actually invented by Socrates. It is a motto inscribed on the front piece of the Temple of Apollo (Delphi). And it remains my view that the utterance itself speaks to the need for man to seek his source.
Yet we are untrained to look within to inwardly search the souls connection to its source. Our mind is instead trained to divert our attention outside as we analyse information from hidden truths to pursue success which is transient.
I suspect that we are the hidden truth. So well hidden that even we do not know it. The mind and all its outward senses persuade us to look for happiness in a material domain. If this is true then we are actually spiritual beings having a human experience, longing for our true home hence a constant void even if we reach our goals.
In Corinthians 6:19-20 he asks, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? So glorify God in your body.”
Sadguru, the most well viewed exponent of spiritual wisdoms says :
‘Death is a taboo in most societies in the world. But what if we have got this completely wrong? What if death was not the catastrophe it is made out to be but an essential aspect of life, rife with spiritual possibilities for transcendence? ..
And finally my favourite spiritual sufi master,Rumi, who says, “All is known in the sacredness of silence within.”
I bow in reverence to my true self which connects me to my Father.
